Essential Qualification :
For Research Associates : Ph.D. degree in Geology/Geophysics in any emerging areas of Earth Sciences. The candidates about to thesis for Ph.D degree and having three years of proven research experience will also be considered. The candidates are expected to persue research at Post- doctoral level. The candidates with experience in field of structural geology/metamorphic petrology/Sedimentology/ Engineering geology/Seismology will be given preference.

For Junior Research Fellow (JRF) : 1st class M.Sc./M.Tech. degree in Geology/Geophysics or allied subject with consistently good academic record. Candidates who have cleared NET/GATE, UGC-CSIR combined will be given preference. NET/GATE qualified candidates MUST attach an attested photocopy NET/GATE qualifications with their application. candidates will have to appear a written test at the Institute in Dehradun and those who qualify in the written examination will only be called for an interview. Candidates Maths at graduation level will be given preference.
